D23 Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary Screening for Celebration Europe

Image
Return of the Jedi  is returning to the big screen! To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the original trilogy, D23 is bringing Return of the Jedi  back to cinemas for one night only during Star Wars  Celebration. Taking place on Saturday, April 8, D23 will be hosting 2 screenings at Odeon Covent Garden. Doors for the first screening open at 18:30 (with the film starting at 19:30) with the second screening an hour later. Both screenings will kick off with a special pre-show and include pop corn, water, and "a commemorative gift from a galaxy far, far away". Tickets are on sale now to D23 Gold and general members costing $40 (plus $5 processing fee) and $50 (plus $7 processing fee) respectively. Honestly, as much as I would love to see Jedi  on the big screen again (it's my favorite Star Wars  movie after all), I feel this is over priced. D23 hosted a similar screening during Celebration Chicago in 2019 which was free for D23 members so...

D23 Galactic Disco Announced for Celebration Anaheim

Get ready to party like an Ewok after the Battle of Endor! To kick off Star Wars  Celebration in style the official Disney D23 fan club is hosting a Galactic Disco Night Dance Party at the House of Blues Anaheim. Grammy-nominated DJ Mayer Hawthorne will be playing an exclusive set of "cosmic boogie and funky beats" for you to dance the night away to after the first day of Star Wars Celebration. Doors will open at 7:30pm, just half an hour after the show floor closes, with the party raging from 8pm-10pm (so you'll be back at your hotel in time for the midnight premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi ). Entry includes admission to the event, a Taco Bar (until 9pm), special photo backdrops, surprise character appearances, a commemorative keepsake upon departure, and more. Tickets are only available to D23 members and cost $75 for General (free) Members, and $55 for Gold Members. Also available exclusively to Gold Members are a limited number of VIP Tickets for $100, which include exclu...

D23 is Coming to Star Wars Celebration

Image
D23 is coming to Celebration! As part of their 13th anniversary Member Appreciation Week, the official Disney fan club revealed that they will be at Star Wars  Celebration in Anaheim saying "D23 will be at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim from May 26 through May 29! You’ll be able to get your boogie on at D23 Galactic Disco Night , and make sure to look out for some more special D23 surprises throughout the weekend!" In Chicago D23 hosted a special screening of Return of the Jedi , introduced by Ashley Eckstein. With the closer proximity to the parks (and the creation of Galaxy's Edge) I'm definitely excited to see what special surprises they have in store!

D23 to Live Stream Select Panels

Image
We're just over a week from Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim. Whilst nothing is confirmed, it's widely expected that we will get our first officially released trailer for The Mandalorian at the Disney+ Showcase on Friday, followed by a Behind The Scenes video for The Rise of Skywalker during Saturday's Behind the Scenes at Walt Disney Studios panel. Plus there's always a chance of some surprises. And maybe, just maybe, we can all watch along as Disney have announced that select panels from D23 will be live streamed; UPDATE: #D23Expo 2019 is sold out! Next week, we will be announcing select panels at the Expo which will be live-streamed. Stay tuned for more details! pic.twitter.com/T3ebZhZ5Ph — Disney D23 (@DisneyD23) 14 August 2019 Now, don't get too excited. The main events may be Disney+, Disney Studios, and Disney Parks, but in 2017 none of those panels were on the live stream schedule. Hopefully they were just testing the waters last time...

Exclusive D23 Screening of Return of the Jedi for Star Wars Celebration

Image
In the past Star Wars Celebration has held movie screenings on site during evenings at the convention. The 3D editions of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith even premiered at Celebration and remain Celebration exclusives. Honestly, I'd hoped ReedPOP and Lucasfilm would have screened the prequels in 3D this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the trilogy. Whilst they still might be added to the schedule, one screening has been announced. D23 is celebrating Star Wars Celebration with a special screening of Return of the Jedi at Chicago's AMC River East! Tickets are free to D23 Gold Members and can be obtained here . Gold Members can claim up to 2 tickets whilst Gold Family Members may claim up to 4. All attendees will receive a voucher for popcorn and a drink along with a D23 exclusive gift! I'm a little surprised it isn't The Phantom Menace but Jedi is my favourite movie of the saga and, coming from the UK, this is the first time I can...

Taking a Quick Look at D23 Expo

Image
After last night's rumour that ReedPOP might be out and Disney's own team taking over Celebration 2019 I figured it was time to do a quick look at Disney's own Celebration, the D23 Expo. Like attending a US Celebration, going to D23 is definitely on my bucket list.  I'm a Disney kid at heart, I grew up on their films, I love their parks, I even have another blog dedicated to their musical Aladdin !  It's definitely an event I want to go to one day. Someone who's been to both may correct me on this, but looking at last year's event I'd say D23 falls somewhere between the European and US Celebrations in terms of scale.  It's a 3 day event like Europe and the schedule doesn't seem quite as jam packed as Celebration can be, but I'd say the crowds are definitely more towards the US Celebration levels. Like Celebration the schedule ( which you can view here ) is a mix of major panels, such as the Animation and Live Action film panels, pa...
