The free event is open to all fans aged 21 and over, no tickets required (first come, first served with a capacity of roughly 200). So What Happens Now?

After Wednesday's long awaited announcement, what comes next? Celebration Facebook groups and message boards have reawakened with a flurry of activity as fans discuss everything from the surprise location to how the event can best utilise the space the McCormick Centre offers. But what can you really do at this early stage? Well, if you're me then you cancel your Anaheim hotel booking . I may have got the date right but that's not much use when the event's 2,000 miles away! Honestly at this stage, not much. You can see a lot of discussion about hotels rooms and where's the best place to stay but right now there's pretty much zero availability at anything within a reasonable walking distance of the McCormick Centre. Don't let this panic you. OnPeak bookings for convention hotels will go live on Tuesday June 5th at noon CST alongside the Celebration badges. Some fans (myself included) have booked rooms at nearby hotels to ensure they have a ro

"This is where the fun begins!" The wait is over! Today The Star Wars Show officially announced that Star Wars Celebration 2019 would be held at McCormick Place, Chicago. But that's not all! Celebration 2019 will be the first ever five day Celebration! Five whole days of Star Wars goodness in the largest convention centre in North America.  Yes sir, Celebration 2019 looks all set to be the greatest Celebration so far! Make sure you head on over to the official Celebration website and sign up for hotel alerts right now to make sure you get the best possible room rates when they become available. Ticket prices are still to be announced but we should hear more very soon as they are set to go on sale Tuesday June 5th at noon CST. Mark that date in your diary because if you want Jedi Master badges then you'll need to be there the instant they go on sale and have Han Solo's legendary luck on your side. For now though, just relax and wa

Revenge of the 5th

The fourth was definitely not with Celebration fans yesterday.  After @SW_Celebration tweeted for the first time in six months it looked like the rumours were true and an announcement was coming.  But it never did.  The closest we got was this tweet Soon...patience you must have! — StarWars Celebration (@SW_Celebration) 4 May 2018 So what now? Honestly I have no idea.  Prior to Orlando 2017, which was announced before Europe 2016 took place, all Celebrations going back to Europe 2013 were announced during the previous Celebration.  As much as myself and others try to look for patterns, honestly there aren't any.  All we can really do is speculate based on what happened before and, as today showed, that didn't really work out for us. What happened? My best guess is either they wanted to give the focus of the day entirely to the Solo ticket launch or they simply weren't ready to make the announcement.  Last month Jason Ward of Making Star Wars tweeted tha
