200 Days to Go! Guests, Hotels, Fan Panels and More Updates!

Image
We are just 200 days away from Star Wars Celebration Japan! I honestly can't believe how fast Celebration is coming up on us. It felt like a life time away earlier this year and now it feels like it will be here in no time! To mark the start of the 200 day countdown, the official Twitter account posted this short video earlier today: スター・ウォーズ セレブレーション ジャパン2025まで… ||◤ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄◥|| あと 𝟐 𝟎 𝟎 日💥 ||◣_________◢|| #スターウォーズ 旋風が ついにここ日本で巻き起こる! 金曜&日曜の単日券チケット好評発売中🎫 ➤ https://t.co/se6cV2N8Pv #SWCJ pic.twitter.com/ehIZORGcud — スター・ウォーズ公式 (@starwarsjapan) September 30, 2024 And now that we are just 200 days away I really need to get this blog back up to date! I am sorry that I haven't been updating recently. I got a new job over the summer and real life took over for a while but now it's time to catch up on everything that I missed and get all the Celebration Preparation guides updated for Tokyo over the rest of the year! First the big two announcements! On August 5th Star W...

Well I didn't expect this so quickly! On Sunday Lucasfilm's Chris Argyropoulos announced that we could expect some Star Wars Celebration news this week. Then yesterday the official site was updated as social media channels announced that tickets for Celebration Europe 2023 would go on sale this week!! Hotel Block Opens for VIPs Tomorrow, Standard Ticket Holders on Thursday

Image
Almost two years after the initial hotel sale the official Star Wars Celebration hotel block will be opening up again this week. This time ReedPOP are doing things slightly differently with ticket holders getting early access this week before the general public gain access next week. Jedi Master VIPs get first access from 12:00 PM PT tomorrow, June 1. All other badge holders will then be able to book their rooms from 12:00 PM PT on Thursday, June 3rd. And finally general public access will begin next week at 12:00 PM PT on Thursday, June 10th. Quite how this early access will work hasn't been revealed yet. Access emails should be sent out to all ticket holders ahead of the sale time that will include instructions on how to access the hotel block. These should be linked to your ticket purchase so even those who don't receive email updates should get the email. Because of the the new early access VIPs should have no problem getting the room of their choice, even in the super po...

Record Sell Outs for Celebration Anaheim

Image
Well that was fast! The question of whether Chicago's rapid sell out was due to the more central location or a growing demand for Star Wars Celebration was answered beyond any shadow of a doubt on Friday night. Not only did Jedi Master VIP badges sell out within moments of going on sale, but 4-Day badges sold out in less than two hours! And the sell outs didn't stop there! Single day Saturday badges sold out on Friday as well!! This is an absolutely record setting sell out for Star Wars Celebration! I know I said last week that if you wanted to get a 4-Day badge you should buy them on Friday but I had no idea the demand would be this high! I thought maybe a 24 hour sell out if it was demand for Celebration rather than the central location of Chicago that drove sales last year but I never would have imagined a sell out like this. We're rapidly heading towards SDCC territory here! If you missed out, please don't resort to paying the scalpers on eBay! Esp...

Ticket & Hotel Sale Tips (Updated)

Image
With tickets and the official hotel block both going on sale this Friday I thought now would be a good time for a simple guide to how the process ran last year. Scroll to the bottom for an update on this year's hotel sale. TICKETS If you're reading this then you almost certainly know that tickets will go on sale this Friday at 9am PT (which is noon ET and 17:00 in the UK). If you want a 4 day badge then buy them on Friday! Chicago was a game changer for Celebration, with weekend tickets selling out in less than 48 hours. For comparison Celebration Orlando tickets went on sale in May and the 4 day passes didn't sell out until December. At the moment we have no idea if this was due to the more central location opening the event up to more fans or if Celebration has just grown to that size of "must attend" event. We're not at SDCC level sell outs yet, but I would highly recommend buying your tickets on Friday if you want a 4 day badge. If you...

Here We Go Again! Dates & Details Announced for Celebration Anaheim 2020

Image
This is where the fun begins (again)! Announced by one of the best Star Wars duos, Andi and Anthony, on a special edition of The Star Wars Show we finally know just when Celebration Anaheim will take place! August 27th-30th. Tickets will go an sale next Friday, June 21st, at 9am PT. That's right, tickets go on sale next week !! But that's not all! The official Star Wars Celebration website also updated with a mountain of additional information so let's break it all down! The Basics Star Wars Celebration will take place at the Anaheim Convention Centre from Thursday August 27th to Sunday August 30th. There is no Bounty Hunter preview day next year. The exhibit hall will be open from 10:00am-7:00pm Thursday to Saturday, and 10:00am-5:00pm on Sunday. Jedi Masters will be allowed early access at 9:30am each day. Panels, screenings, and live events could go on until 10pm or later on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tickets As mentioned above, tickets...

Wow, that was Fast!

Image
Well I think it's safe to say that yesterday didn't go quite as I'd hoped! Not getting VIP I was pretty much expecting. But I was still looking like this for a few minutes afterwards; But I have to admit I wasn't expecting the hotel sale to be quite so crazy! I thought I'd lucked out when OnPeak let me in the queue nearly half an hour early only to be taken to the email sign up page. So I went round the queue a few times and thought I was in luck again when I got to the end of the queue just as it turned 1:00pm! Then I got the email sign up page again and went back to the end of the queue. At this point I think I looked more like this; When I finally got through the queue all the connected or walking distance hotels were either completely booked or not available for the full week. I came close to grabbing one hotel but it booked whilst I was entering my card details. To be honest that would be my only real complaint out of yesterday, t...

Celebration Ticket & Hotel Sale Today!

Image
Good luck, we're gonna need it! Today is the day! At noon CDT tickets for Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 go on sale, followed by OnPeak's hotel sale at 1:00pm CDT. Here are the current ticket and hotel pages; http://www.starwarscelebration.com/Buy/Ticket-Details/ https://compass.onpeak.com/e/012605262/0 Be sure to refresh those at the appropriate times. Alternatively, direct links should be posted on Twitter and Facebook  the moment sales go live. There were reports of this being faster in 2016. No guarantee it will be this time (I believe last time it stemmed from the main site re-directing people to the Celebration Europe tickets, that won't be an issue this time) but worth a try. Just over 2 hours to go now! May the Force be with us all.

Hotel Sale Update

Image
Just a quick post to note that the Hotel Sale for Celebration 2019 has been update! The OnPeak sale will now open up at 1:00pm CDT on Tuesday June 5th instead of the originally announced 12:00pm. This is great news for anyone who wanted to try for Jedi Master and get a hotel as now you don't have to worry about rooms going whilst you're attempting to get your badges. Of course it also means there will be more competition for those who aren't after VIP tickets and were hoping to get the jump on the hotel sale. Hopefully there will be enough rooms for everyone and a shuttle service provided for hotels that aren't in walking distance (with so few hotels in walking distance I can't see how this won't happen), but if you want a close hotel, especially a connecting hotel, be sure to be ready when the OnPeak sale opens. The best news is the official site has also confirmed that there will be no rooms price higher than $200 (single bedded) and $229 (dou...

So What Happens Now?

Image
After Wednesday's long awaited announcement, what comes next? Celebration Facebook groups and message boards have reawakened with a flurry of activity as fans discuss everything from the surprise location to how the event can best utilise the space the McCormick Centre offers. But what can you really do at this early stage? Well, if you're me then you cancel your Anaheim hotel booking . I may have got the date right but that's not much use when the event's 2,000 miles away! Honestly at this stage, not much. You can see a lot of discussion about hotels rooms and where's the best place to stay but right now there's pretty much zero availability at anything within a reasonable walking distance of the McCormick Centre. Don't let this panic you. OnPeak bookings for convention hotels will go live on Tuesday June 5th at noon CST alongside the Celebration badges. Some fans (myself included) have booked rooms at nearby hotels to ensure they have a ro...
