Well I didn't expect this so quickly! On Sunday Lucasfilm's Chris Argyropoulos announced that we could expect some Star Wars Celebration news this week. Then yesterday the official site was updated as social media channels announced that tickets for Celebration Europe 2023 would go on sale this week!! Hotel Block Opens for VIPs Tomorrow, Standard Ticket Holders on Thursday

Image
Almost two years after the initial hotel sale the official Star Wars Celebration hotel block will be opening up again this week. This time ReedPOP are doing things slightly differently with ticket holders getting early access this week before the general public gain access next week. Jedi Master VIPs get first access from 12:00 PM PT tomorrow, June 1. All other badge holders will then be able to book their rooms from 12:00 PM PT on Thursday, June 3rd. And finally general public access will begin next week at 12:00 PM PT on Thursday, June 10th. Quite how this early access will work hasn't been revealed yet. Access emails should be sent out to all ticket holders ahead of the sale time that will include instructions on how to access the hotel block. These should be linked to your ticket purchase so even those who don't receive email updates should get the email. Because of the the new early access VIPs should have no problem getting the room of their choice, even in the super po...

Ticket & Hotel Sale Tips (Updated)

Image
With tickets and the official hotel block both going on sale this Friday I thought now would be a good time for a simple guide to how the process ran last year. Scroll to the bottom for an update on this year's hotel sale. TICKETS If you're reading this then you almost certainly know that tickets will go on sale this Friday at 9am PT (which is noon ET and 17:00 in the UK). If you want a 4 day badge then buy them on Friday! Chicago was a game changer for Celebration, with weekend tickets selling out in less than 48 hours. For comparison Celebration Orlando tickets went on sale in May and the 4 day passes didn't sell out until December. At the moment we have no idea if this was due to the more central location opening the event up to more fans or if Celebration has just grown to that size of "must attend" event. We're not at SDCC level sell outs yet, but I would highly recommend buying your tickets on Friday if you want a 4 day badge. If you...

Post-Sale Thoughts

Image
In the wake of yesterday's sale and the crazily fast sell out of not just the Jedi Master tickets but the OnPeak hotels as well, it feels important to take a slight step back and take stock a little. Firstly, congratulations to everyone who managed to get a Jedi Master badge and / or the hotel they wanted. The Force was truly with you yesterday. For everyone else ( like me! ) try not to let it get you down. There's no denying that having a VIP badge or a connecting hotel would be amazing and make things easier, but they certainly aren't needed to get the most out of Star Wars Celebration! Think of it this way - if you missed out on VIP you've just saved $635 (plus whatever the tax difference was). Depending on how much you're planning on spending, that could be a big chunk of your Celebration money right there. Sure, you'll have to queue for the Celebration Store but with Bounty Hunter Preview on Thursday you can do that without worrying about mis...

Hotel Sale Update

Image
Just a quick post to note that the Hotel Sale for Celebration 2019 has been update! The OnPeak sale will now open up at 1:00pm CDT on Tuesday June 5th instead of the originally announced 12:00pm. This is great news for anyone who wanted to try for Jedi Master and get a hotel as now you don't have to worry about rooms going whilst you're attempting to get your badges. Of course it also means there will be more competition for those who aren't after VIP tickets and were hoping to get the jump on the hotel sale. Hopefully there will be enough rooms for everyone and a shuttle service provided for hotels that aren't in walking distance (with so few hotels in walking distance I can't see how this won't happen), but if you want a close hotel, especially a connecting hotel, be sure to be ready when the OnPeak sale opens. The best news is the official site has also confirmed that there will be no rooms price higher than $200 (single bedded) and $229 (dou...

So What Happens Now?

Image
After Wednesday's long awaited announcement, what comes next? Celebration Facebook groups and message boards have reawakened with a flurry of activity as fans discuss everything from the surprise location to how the event can best utilise the space the McCormick Centre offers. But what can you really do at this early stage? Well, if you're me then you cancel your Anaheim hotel booking . I may have got the date right but that's not much use when the event's 2,000 miles away! Honestly at this stage, not much. You can see a lot of discussion about hotels rooms and where's the best place to stay but right now there's pretty much zero availability at anything within a reasonable walking distance of the McCormick Centre. Don't let this panic you. OnPeak bookings for convention hotels will go live on Tuesday June 5th at noon CST alongside the Celebration badges. Some fans (myself included) have booked rooms at nearby hotels to ensure they have a ro...

It's Never Too Early

Image
And my hotel is booked! Is it a little crazy to book a hotel this far in advance, especially with the Fall rumours going around?  Maybe.  But here's a few reasons why I think it's something at least worth considering. 1 - Anaheim is almost guaranteed.  Even before the recent rumours, almost everyone agreed Celebration 2019 would be in Anaheim.  So we have a very good idea of the venue. 2 - Ignoring the recent Fall rumours, April is the most likely month for Celebration.  The last two US Celebrations were mid April, debuting the teaser trailer for the upcoming Sequel Trilogy film.  Based on those Celebrations you could predict this one to be 11th-14th or 18th-21st April 2019. 3 - Booking before Celebration is announced could help avoid potential hotel mark ups.  Not guaranteed, but certainly worth keeping in mind.  It will certainly help with room availability. 4 - It's free.  This is the main one. ...
