David Collins and Amy Ratcliffe to Host SWCC 2019


I know I already covered this when I did the summer updates post but it deserves it's own post (better late than never!)

The first guests for Star Wars Celebration Chicago were announced last month as returning hosts Amy Ratcliffe and David Collins.

David is a Celebration veteran, returning to host his eighth Star Wars Celebration where he will once again share his insights, passion and humour at the Galaxy Stage. And if you recognise his voice that's probably because you've heard him in one of his many, many Star Wars voice overs including The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and Solo! Or, if you're a Celebration vet yourself, maybe you know him as Han Solo in the live audio dramas Smuggler's Gambit, Smuggler's Bounty and Smuggler's Revenge.

Amy is returning for her third Celebration as the host of the Behind the Scenes stage. The author of Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy and the host of Lattes with Leia is a unique voice in pop culture journalism, writing for StarWars.com and the managing editor of Nerdist. A true Star Wars fan at heart, Amy couldn't get time off work for Celebration V, her first Celebration, so flew in for just 36 hours. "Going to Celebration felt like coming home," she told StarWars.com, "It still does."

 The Galaxy Stage will host screenings, tech-savvy conversations, and other legendary Star Wars entertainment, whilst the Behind the Scenes Stage will look at what goes into creating the Star Wars universe, from the movies and TV shows to the books, comics, and toys we all love.

First Details on New Virtual Queuing System Revealed

Even without The Star Wars Show (what happened?!) there's still some big Celebration news today as eager fans across America began to receive their badges and the first information on the new queueing system. Whilst the full details of the new system haven't been revealed yet, it looks like Celebration's infamous overnight line ups (seen above in an image from WDW Info) are now a thing of the past. The Resistance Broadcast's Lacey Gilleran shared pictures of her VIP badge today (featuring some great Qui-Gon Jinn artwork) which came bearing the message Activate your badge now to maximize your SWCC Experience! StarWarsCelebration.com/Activate The link takes you to a GrowTix page that essentially tells you that your Celebration badge is your first step into a larger world. Funko Exclusives Announced for Star Wars Celebration 2022

  Funko went all out for May the 4th, revealing the multitude of  Star Wars Celebration exclusives coming from Funko and Loungefly. First up is the Diamond Glitter Grogu. Limited to 5000 pieces, this is a shared exclusive with other ReedPOP conventions this year. Classic A New Hope  versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper will be available as single POP figures and a 5-Pack featuring all the figures on one stand. The singles will cost $12 and the 5-Pack will cost $59.99. The 5-Pack is a shared exclusive with Amazon. The singles are divided between multiple retailers. Luke at Box Lunch, Leia at FYE, Chewie at Target, Stormtrooper at Gamestop, and Vader is a Funko web exclusive. Ralph McQuarrie's iconic concept art will also be represented with Concept Series POPs of Darth Vader and a 2-Pack of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
