Next Star Wars Celebration Confirmed for 2025!

Last night the official site set Star Wars social media ablaze when they posted a short article on 5 Reasons to Go to Star Wars Celebration for the First Time.

On the surface, it was just a standard promotional piece listing some of the major highlights of Celebration, like being in the room for new reveals. It's all stuff most Star Wars fans, and certainly anyone reading this blog, already know. But there was one line in the introduction that caught everyone's attention:

"And if you can't join us this year, with the next Star Wars Celebration not taking place until 2025, you'll have plenty of time to work on your cosplay, refine your Wookiee roar, and sharpen your lightsaber skills."

Yes, the next Star Wars Celebration will take place in 2025!

Normally we don't learn the date and location of the next event until the closing ceremony, but last night they casually revealed that Celebration will be taking a break next year whilst still leaving the exact date and venue to be revealed in London in April (unless they do another "wherever it may be" like they did at the end of Orlando 2017 but hopefully not!!).

Honestly, after two events less than a year apart I think a break between events will be appreciated. And with the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith and the 10th anniversary of The Force Awakens both coming up in 2025 (not to mention the possibility of a new film that year), if they want to skip a year then 2024 makes the most sense.

As for when and where, April would be my guess for the when. If there is a film coming in 2025 then April would match up with Celebrations 2015, 2017, and 2019 where they dropped the teaser trailers for each of the sequel trilogy. And where? Orlando or Anaheim. Maybe we get a surprise location like Chicago, but Orlando and Anaheim are both prime locations with the parks nearby. It certainly feels like it's Orlando's "turn" in the rotation, but skipping to 2025 also would allow Disney to start alternating D23 and Celebration in Anaheim so I could see it going either way.

Personally, I would love to do an Orlando Celebration as I haven't done one before, I love Walt Disney World, and, selfishly, the east coast is cheaper for me to get to. That said, I'm not sure anything can actually beat Anaheim as a location with plenty of hotels that are easy walking distance to both the parks and the convention center. Either way I'm going to appreciate the extra year to save as Star Wars Celebration is an expensive (but totally worth it!) combo!

We should hopefully find out all the details in London's closing panel on April 10!
