Road to Celebration - Preparation and Tips

We are less than 300 days from the greatest Celebration in the galaxy!

You've got your tickets, you've got your hotel room booked. Maybe you've even sorted out your travel arrangements.

So what's next?

Planning and Preparation!

With that in mind I've added a new 'Preparation and Tips' tab to the top of this blog and over the next 42 weeks to Celebration I'll be adding weekly posts with all the Celebration advice I can think of!

To start things off - TWO GOLDEN RULES

1 - Accept you can't do everything.

This is the golden rule of any convention. If you try to do it all, you'll end up exhausted, frustrated and probably won't have a great time. Even Jedi Masters will have to wait in some queues and you will always find two panels you'd love to see that clash.

When the schedule is released, make a plan. Be realistic about it (the bigger panels and more popular guests will have longer lines). Pick one or two top priorities for the day and focus on those. Pick a back up or two in case you can't achieve your first choice. Being prepared and having a realistic plan gives you a great head start at Celebration.

But be prepared to be flexible and go with the flow.

Make sure you take the time to step back for a moment, take in the show floor and just embrace the atmosphere that comes from being with thousands of others who share your passion for Star Wars. Sometimes it's the little, quieter moments that stay with you the most.

2 - Start saving now

There's no way around this. Attending Star Wars Celebration, like any big convention, is expensive. It's certainly possible to have a fantastic time at Celebration without spending anything on top of your tickets, hotel, transport and food costs. But if you're planning on buying any of the exclusive merchandise or getting photo ops and autographs with your favourite stars then the costs can add up rapidly, so the sooner you can start saving, the more prepared you'll be.

Next up I'll be looking at cosplaying at Star Wars Celebration since this is probably the one thing (as well as saving) that you'll want to start thinking about now, if you haven't already.

After that, most tips and advice will be much more relevant nearer the time, I'm just going to be covering it in advance as it gives me the time to go a bit more in depth on some subjects, and so I'm not worrying about covering the basics (like please bring deodorant with you) when ReedPOP begin releasing the official information like how the overnight line will be handled.
