Exclusive D23 Screening of Return of the Jedi for Star Wars Celebration


In the past Star Wars Celebration has held movie screenings on site during evenings at the convention. The 3D editions of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith even premiered at Celebration and remain Celebration exclusives.

Honestly, I'd hoped ReedPOP and Lucasfilm would have screened the prequels in 3D this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the trilogy. Whilst they still might be added to the schedule, one screening has been announced.

D23 is celebrating Star Wars Celebration with a special screening of Return of the Jedi at Chicago's AMC River East!

Tickets are free to D23 Gold Members and can be obtained here. Gold Members can claim up to 2 tickets whilst Gold Family Members may claim up to 4. All attendees will receive a voucher for popcorn and a drink along with a D23 exclusive gift!

I'm a little surprised it isn't The Phantom Menace but Jedi is my favourite movie of the saga and, coming from the UK, this is the first time I can actually attend a D23 screening so I'm really excited to see the movie on the big screen again surrounded by hundreds of fans!

First Details on New Virtual Queuing System Revealed

Even without The Star Wars Show (what happened?!) there's still some big Celebration news today as eager fans across America began to receive their badges and the first information on the new queueing system. Whilst the full details of the new system haven't been revealed yet, it looks like Celebration's infamous overnight line ups (seen above in an image from WDW Info) are now a thing of the past. The Resistance Broadcast's Lacey Gilleran shared pictures of her VIP badge today (featuring some great Qui-Gon Jinn artwork) which came bearing the message Activate your badge now to maximize your SWCC Experience! StarWarsCelebration.com/Activate The link takes you to a GrowTix page that essentially tells you that your Celebration badge is your first step into a larger world. Lightspeed Details! Lotteries, Panel Reservations & Virtual Lines

There's been lots of information revealed today so let's start with the big one! No opinions here, just the facts as best as I can work them out. NOW UPDATED with new information from the Celebration website Panels There will be 3 types of panel entry at Celebration Chicago. Lottery. Online Reservation. And good old fashioned queuing. Which type depends on which panel you want to see. Celebration Stage - Morning Lottery The main panel each day will be the morning panel held on the Celebration Stage. For these four panels an online lottery will open on Friday March 29th and run through to 23:59 central time on Thursday April 4th.
