Virtual Star Wars Celebration Store Opens Tomorrow

 


Good morning Star Wars fans! Today would have been the big day. Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. In a perfect world we'd be catching up with old friends whilst lining up for the show floor, the opening panel (almost certainly a 40th anniversary celebration of The Empire Strikes Back), or maybe the show store. Well, Celebration itself might be delayed until 2022 but the show store is opening tomorrow!

Announced last night by the official site, everyone who had tickets to Star Wars Celebration 2020 will be able to access the official Celebration store from midday (ET) on Friday, August 28. Then, from midday on Monday, August 31, the store will be open to everyone.

You can head over to Shop.StarWarsCelebration.com right now to browse the initial selection of merchandise and if you had tickets for Anaheim 2020 you should receive an email today giving you instructions on how to log in for early access tomorrow.

I've update the 2020 Exclusives page with all the merchandise revealed so far, and a break down of this year's Pin Trading collection.

If this year's selection looks a little light compared with previous years, that's because it seems the merchandise will be released in waves this year. Both the official site article and the Celebration Pin Trading page say that that more will be released throughout the rest of 2020.

Personally, I'm not sure it's a good idea. As nice as it may be to spread out the cost, it's also asking fans to either pay multiple shipping costs or risk some items selling out as they wait for others (especially when, except for the pins, they don't know what else is coming that they may or may not want to purchase). But who knows, there may be a few more additions before the store opens tomorrow. After all, we've not seen anything based on whatever the key art was going to be this year.

First Details on New Virtual Queuing System Revealed

Even without The Star Wars Show (what happened?!) there's still some big Celebration news today as eager fans across America began to receive their badges and the first information on the new queueing system. Whilst the full details of the new system haven't been revealed yet, it looks like Celebration's infamous overnight line ups (seen above in an image from WDW Info) are now a thing of the past. The Resistance Broadcast's Lacey Gilleran shared pictures of her VIP badge today (featuring some great Qui-Gon Jinn artwork) which came bearing the message Activate your badge now to maximize your SWCC Experience! StarWarsCelebration.com/Activate The link takes you to a GrowTix page that essentially tells you that your Celebration badge is your first step into a larger world. Funko Exclusives Announced for Star Wars Celebration 2022

  Funko went all out for May the 4th, revealing the multitude of  Star Wars Celebration exclusives coming from Funko and Loungefly. First up is the Diamond Glitter Grogu. Limited to 5000 pieces, this is a shared exclusive with other ReedPOP conventions this year. Classic A New Hope  versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper will be available as single POP figures and a 5-Pack featuring all the figures on one stand. The singles will cost $12 and the 5-Pack will cost $59.99. The 5-Pack is a shared exclusive with Amazon. The singles are divided between multiple retailers. Luke at Box Lunch, Leia at FYE, Chewie at Target, Stormtrooper at Gamestop, and Vader is a Funko web exclusive. Ralph McQuarrie's iconic concept art will also be represented with Concept Series POPs of Darth Vader and a 2-Pack of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
