Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Brought Forward to May 2022!

 


Hello there!


It feels like a long time since we got a Star Wars Celebration update so how's this for exciting news? Star Wars Celebration Anaheim has been brought forward three months and will now take place May 26-29th next year!


The surprise announcement dropped on StarWars.com today and means we are now just over a year away from celebrating together again!


Like last time, current ticket holders who want to keep their tickets don't need to take any further action whilst those who require a refund need to go to this page of the official Celebration website where they can request a refund until June 11, 2021.


Interestingly it appears that ReedPOP are partnering with Lyte for the refund process. Lyte normally handles the ticket exchange for Celebration. Probably nothing, but worth noting as it could suggest that Lyte will be handling any ticket re-sales nearer once ReedPOP know how many tickets they have available.


The full statement on the official Celebration site reads:


"Since its inception in 1999, Star Wars Celebration has focused on bringing fans together to celebrate our shared love of all things Star Wars. As we look ahead to 2022, we are more excited than ever to welcome you back safely to the event.


In order to provide the best fan experience possible, and after further consideration with our hotel and venue teams, we have made the decision to adjust the dates for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 from August 18-21 2022, to May 26-29, 2022. These new dates will provide fans with more incredible offerings to enjoy at Star Wars Celebration!


We apologize for any inconvenience or impact to your plans which this change may cause. For any current ticket holders who may be impacted due to this change, please click here to view our FAQ, which includes information on hotels, health & safety, and more.


Important note to current ticket holders:

  • If you wish to keep your existing tickets, your order will be automatically transferred to the new event dates. You will receive a new confirmation email in the coming months and no further action is required on your part. 
  • If you wish to request a refund for your 2022 ticket order, you may do so now by clicking here.


All ticket holders will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to submit a refund request, if you choose to do so. Ticket refunds requests must be submitted before June 11th, 2021.


The safety and wellbeing of all Celebration attendees will remain our number one priority over the coming year as we prepare for a safe return to Star Wars Celebration in May 2022.

The move to May means that Star Wars Celebration 2022 will likely be taking place before Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and maybe even the third season of The Mandalorian arrive on Disney+ so we'll have a full line up of incredible panels to enjoy! Plus it makes it more likely we'll be seeing the next Celebration in April 2023, perfect timing for that Rogue Squadron teaser.

First Details on New Virtual Queuing System Revealed

Even without The Star Wars Show (what happened?!) there's still some big Celebration news today as eager fans across America began to receive their badges and the first information on the new queueing system. Whilst the full details of the new system haven't been revealed yet, it looks like Celebration's infamous overnight line ups (seen above in an image from WDW Info) are now a thing of the past. The Resistance Broadcast's Lacey Gilleran shared pictures of her VIP badge today (featuring some great Qui-Gon Jinn artwork) which came bearing the message Activate your badge now to maximize your SWCC Experience! StarWarsCelebration.com/Activate The link takes you to a GrowTix page that essentially tells you that your Celebration badge is your first step into a larger world. Funko Exclusives Announced for Star Wars Celebration 2022

  Funko went all out for May the 4th, revealing the multitude of  Star Wars Celebration exclusives coming from Funko and Loungefly. First up is the Diamond Glitter Grogu. Limited to 5000 pieces, this is a shared exclusive with other ReedPOP conventions this year. Classic A New Hope  versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper will be available as single POP figures and a 5-Pack featuring all the figures on one stand. The singles will cost $12 and the 5-Pack will cost $59.99. The 5-Pack is a shared exclusive with Amazon. The singles are divided between multiple retailers. Luke at Box Lunch, Leia at FYE, Chewie at Target, Stormtrooper at Gamestop, and Vader is a Funko web exclusive. Ralph McQuarrie's iconic concept art will also be represented with Concept Series POPs of Darth Vader and a 2-Pack of R2-D2 and C-3PO.
