200 Days to Go! Guests, Hotels, Fan Panels and More Updates!

We are just 200 days away from Star Wars Celebration Japan!

I honestly can't believe how fast Celebration is coming up on us. It felt like a life time away earlier this year and now it feels like it will be here in no time!

To mark the start of the 200 day countdown, the official Twitter account posted this short video earlier today:

And now that we are just 200 days away I really need to get this blog back up to date! I am sorry that I haven't been updating recently. I got a new job over the summer and real life took over for a while but now it's time to catch up on everything that I missed and get all the Celebration Preparation guides updated for Tokyo over the rest of the year!

First the big two announcements!

On August 5th Star Wars Celebration announced its second early wave of celebrity guests that fans will be able to meet at the show next year. First up is Celebration favorite Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett), and joining him is Manny Jacinto fresh from his appearance as The Acolyte's Stranger and Alan Tudyk returns to Celebration ahead of his return as K-2SO in Andor next year.

Then, in a surprise release at the end of last week, the official hotel block opened on September 27th!

This, to my knowledge, is the first time the hotel block has been opened without any advanced notification and also the first time that hotels are being released in waves.

There were only four hotels available, all of them were a train ride away from Makuhari Messe and all booked up rapidly (though the Hilton is currently showing some availability again at the moment). Three of the four are Tokyo Disney resort area hotels (but not Disney hotels).

There will be more hotel waves coming and we have strong reason to believe these will include hotels closer to the convention center so don't worry if you missed out on this first wave.

And, as confirmed by the official site, in December the hotel block will release rooms for 3 Disney hotels! The Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, the Disney Ambassador Hotel, and the Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel.

I'll have the guest and preparation pages updated asap.

Fan applications opened up over the summer, with the application period for Fan Tables and Fan Props running from May 15th to July 8th with those successful being notified in August.

Applications for the Star Wars Celebration Art Show opened up on August 22nd and ran through to September 13th with artist concepts due by November 1st. Those selected by Lucasfilm will be notified by December 9th with final artwork due by February 7th, 2025.

And last week saw applications for Fan Panels and the Holonet News Stage (Podcast Stage) open on September 26th. Applications for both close on December 2nd with applicants notified by late January 2025 if they have been selected.

You can find more information on all of the fan applications at this page on the official site.

In a post on Twitter, Star Wars Celebration confirmed that many of the studios involved in the first season of Star Wars: Visions will be attending Celebration Japan, along with Square Enix Manga & Books and Viz Media. With another post confirming that fan favorite collectibles manufacturer Hot Toys will also be in attendance, teasing "collectible figures and exclusives" to come.

And finally, the official site posted an article last month looking at some of the ways that Japan has inspired our favorite galaxy far, far away so make sure you check that out. It may even give you some ideas for your trip!

Celebration will be here before we know it!
